Our kids are awesome. That is an undisputed fact. The school thinks so too. Dillon and Carson both got awards in April. They both got the "Compass" award which is essentially recognizing them for being a good role model and being on task. I had to crop pictures since I don't like their full names out. Dillon obviously didn't want a picture!
Then in June it was that time again. Kayda got invited to join National Junior Honor Society. She is incredibly excited because of the activities they get to do next year. She also received the academic achievement award for her 4.0 gpa.
Then it was back to the boys. Dillon got the Silver Presidential Award for scoring threes and above on all his state tests.
Carson was chosen for the climber award because he improved dramatically with his reading. He'd been working hard on it all year until it clicked. He set a goal, and met it.
Kayda has too many teachers to get pictures with all of them now, but here are Dillon and Carson with theirs. They both had amazing teachers!

Mrs. C. It was funny, when I covered a three month maternity leave I had her son while she had mine!
It was a great school year!

Carson's award!
It's always awesome when your kid is recognized for being amazing. The recipients are chosen by their teachers. Carson was selected for the compass award. It is given for students who set ab example, work hard academically. They set an example behaviorally, are good friends and leaders in the classroom.

Awards for Kayda and Carson
Way back before break there was supposed to be a special awards assembly. It snowed and school was cancelled. That turned out to be good since I didn't get the letter about the assembly until the day it was supposed to happen. They rescheduled and it snowed again with a 2 hour delay so they had to cancel it again. Well, it finally happened today. Almost a month later. Both Kayda and Carson got the same award. These awards are new and will be given once a trimester to one or two kids from each class. There were two types of awards. The first was about setting goals and working really hard to reach them. The second was about being a leader in the classroom. Guess which one both Kayda and Carson received?
They were both award the Compass Award! Daddy was able to be at the assemblies to watch. It was two separate assemblies to be able to accommodate parents being there.

Kayda's Character Award and Family Skate Night
Back in February I got an email from Kayda's teacher. "Megan, Kayda is receiving an award today at the assembly. Hope you can make it." So Carson and I packed up and ran out the door, since I got it about 10 minutes before it was supposed to start. We ran over and surprised Kayda. She didn't know she was getting the award, she just thought that we were coming to see the assembly with her. Carson got to sit with her during the assembly; which they both loved!
Her award was for teamwork. Her teacher chose her because Kayda is always the first to try to include people, always making sure people aren't left out, and because she's a leader and helper. Kayda has told her teacher many times that "She just really likes helping people".
Another day was the PTA skate night. Daddy had an event he had to be at so I took the kids by myself. The kids got to see all their friends and had a great time! Carson especially loved his skating aid. He kept telling me I should make him one for at home!
Kayda and Dillon both participated in races.
They had such a good time that they are begging me to go again! Excuse the blurry pictures, phone and a dim skating rink don't mix well!
