Date with Daddy

Daddy decided to take the kiddos to the Supermall to ride the carousel.  They made a whole date of it, McD's, a couple of carousel rides and a walk around the mall.  Mommy got to stay home and rest.  Thanks Daddy!

Snow days

Well, it's the end of February and we got SNOW!  The kids were so excited when it started snowing.  They immediately wanted to go out and play.  I made them wait until the grass was almost completely covered so that there would actually be enough to play with.
They ended up playing outside several times over the couple of days.  The played snowball fight, threw the snow in the air, played with their shovels in it.  It cracked me up the first day.  They seem to have an aversion to wearing clothes when they're in the house so they have t-shirts and underwear/diapers on and the next thing I know all of their snow clothes are being piled in my lap.  I thought it was pretty cool that they remembered everything including their gloves and hats.
Dillon threw this snow himself, you wouldn't think it based on how he's standing though.

The snow started on Wednesday, by Friday whatever was left was pretty much ice.  The kids wanted to play outside though so they went out and rode their scooters.  They discovered ice chunks and had a blast throwing those in the street.  We pulled out some paint stir sticks so that they could explore the thin layer of ice on top of our neighbors big puddle.  They had so much fun doing that so I decided to take a walk around our neighborhood looking for frozen puddles... we didn't find any but the kids used their sticks to "measure" the snow anywhere they saw it.

Earlier this week we had a baby check up, I got to listen to the heart beat which is always fun.  Next month we should find out if it's a boy or girl (provided the baby cooperates).

Ready to be big siblings...

Well, we're still a long way off from when the baby gets here but Kayda and Dillon are ready for the baby to be here NOW.  Here are a few things we've been encountering.

The main thing they are playing now is babies.  Kayda is the mommy, Dillon is the daddy and they each have a baby that they're taking care of.  This morning they each had a baby doll and they were feeding the babies and saying they were poopy to change their diapers, they were also burping the babies and singing to them.  Sometimes they even have babies in their tummies.

Kayda is very concerned that the crib isn't up yet so I told her we would be putting up the crib after we go camping in June.  We've marked on her calender when the baby is supposed to be coming so she's keeping track of that in addition to peoples' birthdays.

Whenever I'm not feeling well and tell them that I need to lay down for a little while Dillon will ask me "Are you okay Mom?  The baby make you sick?" to which I always reply with any kind of explanation that I can come up with that it's not the baby it's Mommy's body.

Kayda was eating breakfast one morning and was very worried that I wasn't feeding the baby so I got to explain how Mommy shares everything with baby, how I eat for baby and breathe for baby and so on.  She felt much better after that.  Now when she's eating something sometimes she'll ask me if I want to eat some for baby.

They have so many questions about everything, it's keeping me on my toes trying to explain things in ways that they can understand.
