Fun Filled Saturday

Saturday was an unexpectedly fun day!  We were planning to go up to each of the grandparents' houses and do a few things for them.  Instead we got a little distracted.  Grandma and Papa G called and told us that a ranch nearby was doing pony rides, hay rides and hot dogs so we headed there first.  Of course, since we knew they were doing pony rides, the kids got all done up in their cow kid gear.

 After that we headed over to Grandma and Papa H's.  Our intent was to change out a couple of windows for them.  Daddy was able to do one of the two and then it was getting hot out there so we stopped.  Papa H came home on his motorcycle, the kids were enamored so he gave them rides.  We were really surprised Carson didn't want to.  Airplanes, motorcycles and horses are about his favorite things in this world!

 After the motorcycle rides we headed off to Grandma and Papa G's.  We were planning to cut some trees for them... didn't happen though.  We got distracted with dinner and a BB gun.  The kids had a great time.  Both Kayda and Dillon were able to hit the cans on their own.  Daddy of course had to do it and had no trouble.  I, on the other hand, only seemed to hit anything if I was aiming for Carson and let him pull the trigger.... hmmm....

 Of course only one kiddo could shoot at a time so tether ball it is!!!

Kayda's Last Day of School

We're officially on summer break!  Kayda's last day was Wednesday.  Her class had a little celebration around lunch time and then had a field day!  Dillon and Carson of course joined us so our whole little family could be there.  She was excited to show Dillon around!

 Funny side note:  Yes I know Dillon's shirt is backwards.  He insisted on wearing it that way for the ENTIRE day so that he could be batman!

Tolmie State Park Field Trip

Last Monday was Kayda's field trip to Tolmie State Park.  It isn't one that we've ever been to before so we were excited.  Grandma and Papa G took on the boys so that I could ride the bus and have some Kayda time for her first ever field trip!

 The kids were quick to discover the little crabs.  They found crabs ranging from the size above and a little bigger than a quarter.  Kayda was one of the only ones I saw actually handling the crabs.  She dug right in!

 I have seen sand dollars before, white and dead.  This is the first place I have ever seen more than one or two sand dollars ALIVE.  There were thousands of them and you literally killed one almost everywhere you walked out on the tidal flats.  Notice the dark brown crescents?  Every single one is a sand dollar with all it's bristly little legs intact.  Notice how wet it is and seaweedy?  Definitely a place for rubber boots though we didn't know and ended up with very wet socks and tennis shoes.

 After about an hour and a half there Kayda found a caterpillar.  Once she found that thing she was not interested in doing ANYTHING else.  She sat herself down on the grass and made a little circle "cage" for it and collected leaves to feed it.  She would periodically call over a classmate to show it off.

Carson's Room!

We finally finished Carson's room!  It's about time to start getting him out of our room so we're priming to start the battle.  Of course, I have this thing about the rooms being personalized before my children move into them so we HAD to start by painting.  Most of it was done a couple weeks ago, Daddy finally took on the ceiling edge (because I REALLY didn't want to) and I scrubbed the old nursery stuff off the dresser.  That dresser went through my Aunt Mary's two kids, Grandma G's three kids (including me of course) and through MY three kids.  That thing will not leave my possession unless at some future date one of my children want to take it for their nursery!  Anyway, back to Carson's room.  We had decided on jungle animals for him and it just so happened that Grandma H bought some jungle themed wall stickers.  It was nice because, though I love the color, it is VERY bright and we definitely needed something to break it up.  Carson already knows it's HIS room and has been wanting to sleep in there for a few weeks now.  Hopefully that won't change.  Night one is tonight!

Some day, once he's used to sleeping in a twin sized bed, we'll buy him a bed frame and night stand.  Notice the little rainbow in the back?  That was Daddy's when he was little.  It hung in his room for years!
