Carson's Preschool "Graduation"

Monday was Carson's end of year preschool party.  His last day isn't until tomorrow.  The don't really do a graduation but they do give them some of the school supplies he'll be needing for kindergarten next year.  This year has been amazing.  He went from needing mom to stay for a minimum of 15 minutes to riding the bus to and from school.  He has made some great friends and has LOVED going to school.  He is so ready to start kindergarten and be at school all day like brother and sister. 

 He was feeling very shy in front of the adults.  He still did all the gestures but he absolutely refused to smile.

 Bryson is Carson's best friend.  They actually knew each other a little before school started because of Kayda's riding lessons.  They absolutely love hanging out together and we dragged Bryson along with us to many a play times so they could be together.

This is Gabe.  He is Carson's go to play time buddy.  His mom and I are friends and she was always more than happy to go on impromptu trips to the play area at McDonald's or a park.  With the weather it was usually McDonald's!  Gabe is super high energy and spending time with him actually helped Carson adapt to the busyness of school.

He had a great year and is SO excited about kindergarten.  I hope it lives up to his expectations!

Kayda's Track Meet

Kayda got to go through an "intro to track" season.  It was only two weeks long and was basically just letting all the kids try out the different events and then participate in a low key meet at the end.  Each kid got to choose which events to participate in.  Kayda's favorite were the long jump and the turbo javelin.

Here are the events she did (and her stats as I can interpret them from her sheet):

100 yd dash - 21.59 seconds

High Jump - 31 inches

Long Jump - 7 feet 7 inches

Turbo Javelin - 33 feet 7 inches

200 yd - 47.44 seconds

Shot-put - 12 feet

400 yd - 1 minute 44 seconds

She also participated in a relay, which I don't have stats for. 

In most of the pictures she's wearing her pink beanie.

Carson's Last Tball Game

Last week was Carson's last tball game.  He LOVED to play.  He was always quite serious about it and was always doing exactly what he was supposed to be doing.  His absolute favorite position was first base.  He figured out pretty quickly that it was the only position that was guaranteed some "action" for every single play.

Twin Harbors State Park

We spent Memorial Day weekend working up at Grandma and Papa H's house so Daddy and I decided we should go camping.  We only had the weekend to go so we decided to try tent camping, for the first time in about 6 years.  We watched the weather and made the final decision to go Thursday night.  We wanted to go to the beach so we looked at the different campgrounds and decided to try Twin Harbors State Park.  

 When we got there we set up tents as quickly as possible and headed down to the beach just in time for sunset!

 Of course the boys immediately headed to the water and had to change pants as soon as we got back to camp.

Kayda was perfectly happy just watching with Mom. 

 It ended up being beautiful weather. It was a little windy, just enough for kites.  We set up a little wind sheltering umbrella so we had someplace to get out of the wind and we were able to stay comfortably on the beach for hours at a time.

 Saturday morning Kayda only had eyes for the kites.  She flew the standard kite and got bored, so we pulled out the "sport" kite we got in Lincoln city almost three years ago.  It was tough figuring it out but the kids all loved it!

 Finally I convinced her to go in the water with me.  Then I almost immediately got out so I could get the camera and take pictures!  She didn't notice though.

 Some of my friends from college (Jesse and Kala) and their two kids (Madison and Ryann)  came to visit.  The kids all had a great time playing together!

 This morning we ate breakfast and headed to the beach until lunch.  We wanted to put off coming home as long as possible.  Of course, as soon as we got home the kids got in the pool.  One body of water to another!

We were sitting up on the beach waiting for the water to get us.  

 Most of the time it was just a little... and then this happened!  The boys thought it was hilarious so we immediately sat right back down to do it again. 

It ended up being a great weekend.  We will definitely be doing it more this summer.  We love the trailer but it's definitely a great option to be able to tent camp when it's short notice!
