Wish Us Luck!!!

The end of the world as we know it is approaching quickly. Tomorrow (Friday) is our last day of school so that means that Saturday Kayda loses her pacifier... Wish us luck... It's going to be interesting for a while.

Anyways, on to a more enjoyable topic. I know this is getting redundant but my kids are wonderful! Kayda absolutely adores Dillon and he returns her affection whole heartedly. He was playing propped up on the boppy and she started to rub and play with his feet (we play with him that way a lot) Grandma Peggy would have been jealous.

When he started to get a little crabby we picked him up she decided she should lay there so she went and snuggled in and then she wanted him there with her. We set him down next to her and she just sat there contendedly watching tv and stroking little brother's hair.

I was folding laundry in the tv room, which I don't normally do, and Kayda decided to crawl into the basket of clean clothes. She actually laid there wathing tv for a few minutes, it's cute but it makes it more than a little difficult to do the laundry. Of course, using any excuse possible to get out of doing it, the laundry didn't get done that night.


Dillon and I were playing on the couch, singing songs and standing up, a little of the flying in the air move. He was happy as could be. Unfortunately we weren't able to catch a smile but here's a cute little almost smile that he did. He absolutely loves the itsy bitsy spide. I tickle him when the spider "climbed up the water spout" and he LOVES it, he is extremely ticklish.

And of course, last but not least. On father's day we walked over to see Grandma and Grandpa H from our house because it was BEAUTIFUL outside. I lathered both babies up it sunscreen, stuck sun hats on them and sunglasses. They were quite the pair. Grandma Peggy tried to get pictures too but I don't have those so this is the best one we were able to get before we left for our walk.

Antipacifier Ch. 1

Well, last Saturday was the beginning of Dillon's last few days with the pacifier. We managed to get it away from him during the day but he wasn't feeling well over the weekend so I let him keep it at night. Last night was officially his first night without the pacifier. After about 1/2 an hour of screaming/crying I managed to get him to sleep and then he slept for 6 hours without squirming even once. He's been doing great without it, it's even making his naps better during the day! Next comes the transition to the crib from mommy's bed. It was too hard to move him out when he was still using the pacifier so he's on his way out next week! Then after school gets out (7 more days yay!) comes the scary part! We're going to take the pacifier away from KAYDA! It's going to be interesting, we'll let you know how it goes, don't be surprised if Brian and I are exhausted.

Entirely different subject, last Thursday (June 5th) Dillon rolled over from tummy to back for the first time! It was accidental, apparently he was trying to watch grandma G and Kayda play and rolled himself over, he was quite startled. He has yet to repeat the manuever but it's still exciting.

Another first Monday (June 2nd) was Dillon's first swimming lesson. We were going to start him at 4 months but we didn't think he was quite ready for it. So we spent the month before practicing pouring water over his face (with 1-2-3) and getting him used to laying on his back in the bath tub (with support of course). He did great in the pool! He can almost float on his back (his head's just a little too heavy) and I can put him underwater. Of course it's nothing compared to big sister yet but she's also 13 months ahead of him. She LOVES to jump, tries desperately to swim on her own, has absolutely no problems with going underwater and HATES to go on her back. We're trying to find ways to get her comfortable on her back, I've tried it in the bath tub and I've tried letting her rest her head on my shoulder. The only thing that has kind of worked has been holding her on her back out in front of me and running around the pool to make a game of it. Anyone have any other suggestions?

I have a few pictures of swimming but I'm not in the mood to deal with putting them on so they'll be up another day!

One more baby thing. Kayda had two more teeth her bottom "cuspids" I think they're called... Mom feel free to correct me. She only has 6 more baby teeth to go and four of them aren't supposed to come in until around 2 years (her 2 year molars).

Now celebrating my seniors I would like to add that I only had 1 senior fail my class and he's the one that never came so YAY SENIORS!!!

To the ZOO!!!

Well, Grandma and Grandpa G invited us to the zoo today. So we went out to Point Defiance zoo and aquarium. Kayda loved it but a picture is worth a thousand words so here's several thousand words!

Dillon's First "Solid" Food and Kayda's Safe Driver Award

Dillon got to eat his first rice cereal on Thursday. He was excited about eating it, he would open his mouth up nice and wide but he just couldn't figure out how to keep it in his mouth.

He's had it a few times since then and he's still having trouble. That's to be expected of course because he's just starting. It's cute to watch but not so much fun to clean up after. We're going to be starting him in swim lessons with his big sister soon, we'll post pictures as soon as we have some.

Kayda absolutely loves to "drive" anything that she sees us drive. She goes nuts over Grandma and Grandpa G's riding lawn mower and even more crazy about pretending to drive cars. We were out doing yard work on Saturday (a beautiful day by the way) and that's where she wanted to be. So I rolled down the windows, moved all the little things into the center console so she couldn't put them in her mouth and let her have fun. First thing she does, being the little genius that she is, is try to put on the seatbelt!!! YAY!!! She's figured out that if she's in the car she should be buckled in. She tries to help us buckle her into her carseat too. She has a great time driving and when we turn the car on next we always have all kinds of fun surprises, turn signals and windsheild wipers are on and all kinds of other fun things.

Last but certainly not least I HAD to post this. It's daddy's thing to fall asleep with the babies so I had to include another one of those pictures. That and they're adorable

Trip to the doctor!

Well it was time for both babies' check ups. Here's their info...

Kayda:
height - 32.75inches, 85%
weight - 22lbs 9oz, 25%
head - 19in, 90%

Dillon:
height - 22.25inches, 70%
weight - 18lbs 2oz, 95%
head - 16.75in, 50%

I think it's hilarious that Dillon is only 4 lbs lighter than Kayda. He's 13.5 months younger and only 4 pounds short! The head information is mostly for the benefit of the Daddy's half... big heads seem to run in the family so I thought I would share!

Everything checks out well, they're both growing well and meeting the developmental milestones well so we have two healthy beautiful happy babies.

Catching up

Been a while since I've put up more pictures. But don't worry they're still beautiful and sweet. Kayda still adores her little brother. The other day she sat in his car seat and then motioned for me to put him in her lap so I did. I picked him back up again after a few seconds and then she wanted me to do it again. Brian and I got a kick out of it and Dillon enjoyed it.

She also decided to help me with Dillon. I put him in the swing and she turned it on for me. Then she proceeded to turn on the music and change the speed several times but Dillon enjoyed watching her so it was fine.

Her fine motor skills amaze me. She pushes buttons, does puzzles and even plugs in Daddy's headphones for him. She is such a great little helper.

While she continues to surprise us little Dillon is starting to get people's attention. He's quite the smiler and talker. He'll grin at you and talk to you for as long as you'll pay attention. He LOVES to chew on his little hands. He gets pretty mad when he wants them and wiggles too much to keep them in his mouth. He's also figuring out how to hold onto things; his favorite things are towels or bibs. He really likes to swing the fabric around.

Today was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day. It was a little on the hot side but we enjoyed it none the less. We spent half of the day outside in the sunshine. Dillon in his diaper, trying to keep him covered in sunscreen and in the shade as much as possible. Here he is sleeping on the couch his little rolls are my favorite!


Kayda spent the day in her swim suit running between the pool, the sandbox, the swing set and the ladder Daddy was trying to use to do yard work. She wore herself out enough that the couple of pictures I managed to take while Dillon was sleeping were all either of her yawning or rubbing her eyes.

Kayda has everyone wrapped around her little fingers. She managed to get Grandpa G AND Daddy to play in the sandbox with her.

Meanwhile Dillon slept oh so happily in Mommy's arms.
We're having so much fun now that the weather is SLOWLY getting nice out. Kayda absolutely loves to be outside so now every chance she gets she is out there. Dillon is starting his new streak. He is holding his weight up standing up on his own (we still have to balance him of course) and he can almost sit up on his own. He is laughing now! He is literally a bundle of JOY he is as happy as they come.

He and I went back to take a nap last weekend, when we came back out we found Kayda and Daddy snuggled up sleeping on the couch. I love having babies that love to be snuggled. It makes the world a brighter place.
