Early Easter #2

We finished our Easter celebration this evening with both sets of grandparents and Baba (great grandma). We had dinner, hunted for eggs and then obviously had dessert. Before dinner I was setting the table, Kayda kept grabbing the plates and moving them to where SHE wanted them to go. She is very particular that way. She also attacked any food that was set on the table. I put the rolls in the middle of the table thinking "they'll be safe". I was wrong. She grabbed a roll, mauled it with a butter knife, took a couple of bites and put it back just to grab another one to repeat the process with. Fortunately I realized what she was doing before she mangled all of them. When it was finally time to eat the kids didn't really seem interested in eating. Kayda munched a little then ran off to play. Little did she know that while she was eating every time she looked away Dillon was ever so sneakily stealing her grapes! Dillon threw all HIS food on the floor and after Kadya left he proceeded to reach over to Kayda's plate and eat HER food. The babies seemed to enjoy the egg hunt. We just did a dozen plastic eggs with candy inside and hid them around our front room.

Dillon found the first egg and immediately got it open and started to eat the candy. It was hard to drag him away to find any other eggs but he managed to find two more. Check out his big blue eyes! I told him to put the egg in his basket and he knew just what to do!

Kayda ended up finding most of the eggs. She had a good time though she wasn't smiling much. She also ended up eating the contents of most of the eggs before I hid them!

Last but not least here they are examining the contents of Dillon's basket together. There were no eggs left in it by then, Kayda had taken them all and put them into HER basket. However, there were some stray candies rolling around in there which is what interested them so much.

Early Easter #1

This year Easter is a little complicated for us. We're going to Palm Springs and get back the Saturday before Easter. So instead of trying to boil eggs and color them and do all that fun stuff ON Easter right after returning from a week long vacation we decided to do it early. We were planning on doing it ALL yesterday but the kids were sick so we had to postpone. We decided to color eggs tonight and we're celebrating the rest on Wednesday. Kayda and Dillon had a great time! The eggs got kind of beat up, I think 4 out of the 10 eggs ended up broken, but hey we're just going to eat them right? Kayda loved putting one egg into multiple colors and Dillon was EXACTLY the opposite, he liked to take one color and put in multiple eggs. He piled in as many as the cup would let him. Kayda LOVED putting the stickers on the eggs afterwards, she used ALL of the stickers (24) on the 10 eggs we had. After we were done we lined up all the eggs and Dillon decided that he NEEDED to get those eggs. So he, for the first time ever, managed to climb from the chair onto the table. He was quite proud of himself. Neither of the babies were very happy when we had to put the eggs in the fridge.

Irish Pirates!

A week ago Sunday (the 22nd) we got together with Daddy's family at Baba's house for celebrating St. Patrick's Day. Kayda and Dillon get their Irish roots from Daddy. We had a great little potluck with a pirate theme for the kiddos. Baba had the kids do a little play about what St. Patrick's day is about. They got to wear pirate hats, some wore bandana's. The little ones were a little too young to understand but most had fun anyway. The day before I was a little bored so I made their hats... too bad they were worn for all of 5 minutes if that. Kayda and especially Dillon just did NOT want those things on their heads. Notice just how much Dillon didn't want it on. This was the best picture we could get! When we went home Kayda was very upset and kept saying "baba home". She desperately wanted to go back because she was having SO much fun!

Not so Good News

Our sweet little ones now have their first ever flu. They started acting really tired and felt a little warm around Wednesday, then it escalated to the runs and now they're throwing up. Dillon threw up once but Kayda has had several rounds. It's so miserable watching them be sick because there's not much more than snuggling that I can do for them. Kayda went down for a 3 hour nap not even 3 hours after getting out of bed this morning and Dillon slept a good 2 hour nap. It's so sad to see our little ones act so unlike their usual happy, energetic, easily entertained selves. Like I said it's not good news but it is news. Poor babies. On another note, I have discovered the ONLY downside of being the person they run to when they're hurt...I have been the ONLY parent repeatedly thrown up on. Course Daddy gets stuck cleaning up, which he does without complaint. He's such a good dad!

New Hairdo!

Kayda has actually been letting me put clips in her hair the last couple of days! I'm finally getting to play with my little girl's hair YAY! She looks so cute, her hair curls where it comes out of the rubberbands and her bangs are just too perfect! Another exciting thing. Last Friday Kayda went potty in Grandma Peggy's toilet and then last Tuesday, when we were trying to put her to bed, she told Daddy "pa" which can mean any number of things, but in this case meant potty, and then she went in to her special potty and actually used it! Hurray!

I had Dillon's hair cut again! His hair was starting to become the same length everywhere and he had more of it than Kayda. So we went and got his hair cut today, he looks so grown up and handsome! He did pretty good. He was a little wiggly so there are a few uneven parts but hey you can't expect perfection when you're cutting a little kid's hair by hand! Keep in mind I did not do the cutting... It would have looked like I used a knife and hacked it off!

And just because it warmed my heart... Both of my sweet little ones snuggled up with me and fell asleep the other day. They are so wonderful and make me so happy!

Snow in March!

We woke up to snow this morning so after breakfast we bundled up and went out to play for a couple of minutes. Of course not even two hours later it's all melting away but it was fun for the short time we were out there!

They Make Me Smile - totally random moments

They were playing in the bath and I decided to have a little fun with their hair. Kayda's hair just kept curling but Dillon's cracked me up! Even though her hair didn't stay up like it was supposed to it is an excellent example of Kayda's goofy grin!





Kayda fell asleep on the recliner today. I've tried to wake her up three times, each time I've changed her location. I pick her up, talk to her, try to sit her up, jiggle her a little... It doesn't matter she keeps on dreaming.

Dillon has decided it's great fun to open the washer and do this!

Kayda found my goggles in one of our drawers and wanted them on. Ready for the pool mom! We tied her blanket around her neck for a little while like a little super hero but I didn't get the camera fast enough.

Poor Hank, Dillon was climbing all over him and jumping around. Granted Hank got in the chair AFTER Dillon but still. This is toned down from when he first started, I had to encourage him to get going again after I got the camera out. I love his little facial expressions and noises!

Kayda really enjoys the Barenstein's B Book. In the end the baby bird's balloon gets popped. Usually Kayda will get to the very last page (when the balloon is popped) and very sadly say "balloon" then she'll flip to the page right before (when the balloon is still good) and yell "BALLOON! YAY!". She'll go back and forth over and over again being very dramatic with her sadness and happiness. This isn't as enthusiastic as usual but you can see a little of it!
